Antique (1887) 22ct Half Sovereign Queen Victoria Golden Jubilee Pendant

Antique (1887) 22ct Half Sovereign Queen Victoria Golden Jubilee Pendant

The condition of this coin is immaculate. All the details and lettering are as crisp as the day that it was minted. However, it has that soft buttery glow that tells us that it is old, old old. This 137 year old coin has been lovingly converted so that it can be worn as a pendant on a chain. It has been kept simple with a little bail and jump ring so that nothing detracts from the coin itself - and we think it's perfect.

This half sovereign coin was a commemorative coin produced for the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria in 1887. The jubilee head was created to mark the 50th year of Queen Victoria's reign. It was designed by the medalist and sculptor, Joseph Edgar Boehm. This coin has the signature of the artist of the potrait "J.E.B." just below the portrait. There is a beautifully detailed crowned shield of the Royal Arms on the reverse. We love to spin it around to show off each face!

Condition: Fantastic antique condition with light wear commensurate with age. The jump ring has been pushed shut.

Hallmarks: The half sovereign coin is solid 22ct gold. The bail and jump ring to the top are 9ct gold.

Weight: 4.2g (The sovereign coin which is solid 22ct gold weighs 3.99g) The additional bail and jump ring additions are 9ct gold.
