Antique (1896) 18ct Opal and Old Cut Diamond Halo Ring
You won't see many opals for sale through our website as we are super picky about them. We want them to be natural and we want them to be full of fire with all the colours of the rainbow. They have to blow our socks off. And this one does just that. Not only is the opal an insane kaleidescope of colour but there are 12 beautiful sparkling old cut diamonds surrounding it for the most beautiful combination.
We absolutely adore the fact that this ring has managed to retain all of its original hallmarks. It was created in Sheffield in the year 1896, making it a real piece of history!
The entire ring is crafted in 18ct yellow gold to really make the stones pop.
The opal is approx 6.4mm x 5.4mm with only very light surface wear. The diamonds total approx .4tcw of natural hand cut diamonds. They are all bright with beautiful sparkle - upon close inspection with a magnifier there are some inclusions and nibbles to the stones, but nothing that impacts the ring.
Hallmarks: Sheffield assay mark, Crown 18 for 18ct gold, date letter for the year 1896. Makers mark "HLB".
Condition: The ring is in great antique condition with light wear commensurate with age.
