Antique (1904) 9ct and Fetter and Lovers Knot Link Chain

Antique (1904) 9ct and Fetter and Lovers Knot Link Chain

A beautiful long chain that would have originally been used as a muff huard chain or long guard. It has had the dog clasp moved to use it as a clasp, rather than hanging freely as it typically would have been. The links are beautifully detailed and although the links are dainty they pack so much beauty.

At a longer length, it's the perfect versatile chain that can be worn single, doubled, lariat style, with charms, without charms... you will always find some fun new way to wear it.

Condition: The chain is in good antique condition with wear commensurate with age. The links are nice and strong. The clasp is also strong and springy. There are a few links that are slightly out of shape but only visible on close inspection.

Hallmarks: Every single link is stamped 9.375 for 9ct gold. The dog clasp is stamped "JG&S 9c". JG&S is the makers mark for John Grinsell & Sons. One of the end links also has an anchor stamp for Birmingham and a date letter for the year 1904.
