Antique 9ct Gold Diamond Heart Locket
This very old girl shows her age but we couldn't pass her up as she still has so much beauty and love to give. The rose cut diamond that sits proud in its miligrained setting is the real star of the show and sparkles beautifully.
If you like your pieces well loved with a bit of imperfection (a bit like most of us!), then this will be the one for you.
She has plenty of love still to give when being taken care of. She's a delicate girl so she will need a gentle life.
She has both of her heart shaped frames still inside so will hold a photo to each side.
The gold is a slightly warm hue that is typical to antique 9ct gold. It shows signs of originally being washed in a higher carat gold, so there are traces of a more yellow hue.
Condition: Very well loved condition. The surface shows various signs of wear including surface scratches, denting, splitting. The hinge is partially snapped so it must be opened and closed very carefully to avoid doing any further damage. But it does close securely and stays closed. The diamond setting moves slightly due to the setting not being tight (we believe someone has tried to tighten it in the past which has led to a visible line along the front). The small jump ring to the top has been pushed shut - if you would like it soldered shut please a note at checkout and allow up to 2 weeks to complete.
Hallmarks: 9 375 for 9ct gold, Chester assay, date letter for the year 1912. There is also a faint makers mark to the reverse. Even one of the little heart shaped frames in the interior is stamped 9.375.
