Antique (1902) 18ct Gold Cable Link Watch Chain

Antique (1902) 18ct Gold Cable Link Watch Chain

The most common links found used for an Albert chain are typically curb links, and most often in 9ct gold. So when we come across a different style of link in a higher carat, there is much excitement.

This one is special and has everything going for it. Solid chubby cable links, a dog clip, a big bolt clasp and a sliding swivel T bar that can float up and down the chain to be in any position desired.

The beautiful cable links that make up this antique Albert are all solid 18ct gold with a Crown 18 stamped into each one. The hallmarks are still so clear and there is hardly any wear to note. We believe this piece must have been sat in someone's jewellery box for the last over 120 years, or perhaps only used on special occasions.

There is also a makers mark, assay mark and a date letter present which adds to the testament of quality of the piece. The makers mark is present on a central link, the T bar and the dog clasp so we can assume that they are all original to each other. Which is extremely rare to find these days.

Hallmarks: Every link is stamped with Crown 18. There is a matching makers mark "H&I" on a central link, the T bar and the dog clasp. The dog clasp is stamped Crown 18 and the bolt clasp is stamped 18. There is an anchor for Birmingham assay and a date letter for the year 1902 on a link close to the T bar.

Condition: The chain is in fantastic antique condition, there is next to no wear. Both the bolt clasp and dog clasp are strong and springy.
