Antique (1916) 18ct Shield Signet Ring (UK U)
What's the secret with this ring?
Turn it over and look underneath, yes the hallmarks are crisp and gorgeous... but then there is the hand engraving under the head that reads "Lily to Sidney" "Dec 25 '16"... it makes our heart skip a beat when we find these rings that give us just a little hint into what they've been up to.
What a treat to be able to find the next home for what would have been such a special gift between two people just under 100 years ago.
The 18ct gold has a warmth to it, slightly edging toward the antique rosey hue that is common to old gold but still very buttery and not brassy at all.
Hallmarks: Crown 18 for 18ct gold, Chester assay mark, date letter for the year 1916. Makers mark J.H.W.
Condition: The ring is in great antique condition with light wear commensurate with age. There are light surface scratches but nothing deep and these can be polished out if desired.
Weight: 5.15g
