Antique (1923) 18ct Gold Albert Watch Chain
This piece would have been an essential (yet stunning!) piece for a gentleman's pocket watch and has now become a desireable piece of jewellery to wear around our necks and wrists. An antique pocket watch chain comes with so much history, especially this one at just over 100 years of age and is the perfect addition to any jewellery collection. With hallmarks on every single link of buttery 18ct gold, it's just gorgeous.
It's a shorter length which means it would be great as a choker length, added to another chain to make a longer necklace or wrapped around your wrist as a double bracelet.
The majority of Albert chains you will find on the market will be crafted from 9ct gold, but this one has beautifully chubby little solid curb links each stamped with a crown 18 showing they are made of buttery rich 18ct gold. The entire piece is a gorgeous true 18ct yellow gold with a softness to it that you can only get from its age.
The T bar slides freely along the chain. This means you can wear this chain so many different ways, T bar to the front on its own, with the dog clasps, attach a charm to the dog clasp, push that T bar to the back... endless!
We believe the chain to be all original as the hallmarks and makers marks all match.
Hallmarks: Every link is stamped with "Crown 18". The T bar is hallmarked "Crown 18", Anchor for Birmingham and the makers mark "ACCo". Both dog clasps are hallmarked "Crown 18" and "ACCo". A central curb link also has the makers mark "ACCo". One of the links has an anchor for Birmingham along with a date letter for the year 1923.
Condition: The chain is in fantastic antique condition. Dog clasps are both strong and springy.
