Antique 9ct Book Photo Locket with Engraved Card

When we find old lockets we are never sure what we will find inside... although we assume it will be photos... so what a surprise when we opened up this one to find a gold plaque hand engraved with the Turkish phrase "Tanri seni benim için korusun" which translates to "May God keep you safe for my sake". 
 
The locket has sweet detailing to give the impression of a book and gorgeous engraving to both sides. The front has an engraved border surrounding the initials "F E" and the reverse with the date "16.8.47". 
 
This one is special and we wish we knew the story of who it belonged to. It must have been extremely important to them. 
 
It is possible to polish off the custom engravings, including on the interior plaque. 
 
Condition: The locket is in great pre-loved condition with wear commensurate with age. It shuts securely. The 9ct jump ring is very small so would suit a small clasp to hold it or a dainty chain. This can be swapped for a larger jump ring, just leave a note at checkout and allow 2-3 weeks. 
 
Hallmarks: There are no hallmarks present but the piece has been tested as 9ct gold. The inner engraved plaque is 9ct gold and washed with a higher carat to give it a rich yellow hue. The working parts are metal core.
