Antique 9ct Gold French Spinning Top Pendant
What a little beauty this one is. You rarely see them on the secondhand market as they are collector pieces. Especially if they are in excellent condition with its original top, as this one is.
This Victorian spinning top pendant is based on the French game "Effeuiller la Marguerite".
The spinner has 6 sides, with the enamelled words: IL M'AIME, UN PEU, BEAUCOUP, PASSIONNEMENT, and PAS DU TOUT; translating as "he loves me," "a little," "a lot," "passionately," "not at all," with the 6th side displaying an enamelled daisy with one petal being removed.
It's crafted in 9ct gold with a screw on pendant bail that comes off to balance the top when spun. It's a fun game to play spinning it on a table top.
Condition: Great antique condition with wear commensurate with age. Most of the enamel is present with just some of the letters partially worn.
Hallmarks: Stamped 9ct and XRF tested. The 9ct jump ring has a partial makers mark present.
Weight: 2.4g
