Antique Old Cut Emerald and Old Cut Diamond Halo Ring
When we found this antique ring it was completely falling apart. The diamonds were loose, the top setting was broken and the emerald underside was covered in glue. It was a disaster and destined to be scrapped.
We thought the ring deserved to be restored back to its original glory. Our master goldsmith has done a marvelous job on restoring it to how it would have originally looked when it was made in the late 1800s-early 1900s.
The emerald stands proud in its prong setting to allow light to enter from all angles when worn and really show off that stunning vibrant green. The emerald is complimented by 10 bezel set fiery old cut diamonds. How amazing to find an old hand cut emerald with the open culet. They are a rare thing to find!
The emerald is 6.6mm across which gives it the approx size of 1.16cts. It has been assessed as a natural hand cut emerald with various natural internal inclusions, typical to a natural emerald stone. The diamonds are each approx 0.05-0.06cts each making a total of 0.5tcw of natural diamonds. The diamonds have been assessed as H-J colour and VS1-VS2 clarity. They are all well matched, with just one diamond showing more warmth than the others. They vary in cuts from old mine cuts to slightly later old european cuts.
