Antique (1800s) Opening Envelope with French Love Letter

Antique (1800s) Opening Envelope with French Love Letter

What a sweet and special pendant this is! It's a genuine antique and hard to find piece in this condition - and with the little gold letter that is beautifully engraved hiding inside, it's very special.

We suspect that this piece must be French in origin. The little letter inside is engraved to one side with the date in French "3 Fevrier 1898" (3rd February 1898) and "Marie e Marie" (Marie to Marie) to the opposite with an enameled flower.

There is a little ruby red/pink cabochon stone set to the flap of the envelope to resemble a letter seal. We would be tempted to add our own handwritten love letter into the envelope and gift it to someone special.

The gold letter is more of a warm rosey hue compared to the true yellow hue of the envelope, but we do believe that they are original to each other.

Condition: The pendant is in good antique condition with wear commensurate with age. The pendant closes and clicks securely shut. There is some discolouration to the exterior of the envelope and light surface scratches to both.

Hallmarks: There are no hallmarks present. The envelope and letter have been tested for 15ct gold.
