Antique (1895) Silver Albert Watch Chain
This piece would have been an essential (yet stunning!) piece for a gentleman's pocket watch and has now become a desireable piece of jewellery to wear around our necks (or wrists!). An antique pocket watch chain comes with so much history and is the perfect addition to any jewellery collection. This one is a beauty with the lion hallmark on every chubby cable link. We adore the links on this one, different to the curb links that you commonly find with a watch chain. One of the central links also has a stamp for Chester and a date letter for the year 1895. At nearly 130 years old, it's not just a beautiful piece of jewellery, but a true piece of history.
If silver is your thing, this is absolutely a piece for you.
Hallmarks: Every link is stamped with a lion for silver. The T bar is stamped with a lion, anchor for Birmingham and a makers mark "R&D". The dog clasp is stamped "STERLING". A central link of the chain also has a hallmark for Chester and a date letter for the year 1895.
Condition: The chain is in fantastic antique condition. It has not been polished as we prefer the antique patina to the chain but if you would like it polished to a high shine any jeweller would be able to do this for you. The dog clasp is strong and springy. The oversized bolt clasp is not functioning but has been closed so that it can be used as a ring for the dog clasp.
