Antique (1916) 18ct Gold Albert Watch Chain (16")

Antique (1916) 18ct Gold Albert Watch Chain (16")

This piece would have been an essential (yet stunning!) piece for a gentleman's pocket watch and has now become a desirable piece of jewellery to wear around our necks and wrists. An antique pocket watch chain comes with so much history, especially this one at just over 100 years of age and is the perfect addition to any jewellery collection.

The majority of Albert chains you will find on the market will be crafted from 9ct gold, but this one has beautifully chubby little solid curb links each stamped with a crown 18 showing they are made of buttery rich 18ct gold. The entire piece is a gorgeous true 18ct yellow gold with a softness to it that you can only get from its age.

The T bar slides freely along the chain and swivels. This means you can wear this chain so many different ways, T bar to the front on its own, pop a charm on the hanging bolt clasp, push that T bar to the back to showcase the dog clasps... endless!

We believe the chain to be mostly all original as the hallmarks and makers marks match on the links, the T bar and one of the dog clasps.

Hallmarks: Every link is stamped with "Crown 18". The T bar is hallmarked "Crown 18", and the makers mark "EC". The dog clasp is hallmarked "Crown 18" and the makers mark "EC". The bolt clasp is stamped 18c. A central curb link has a Chester assay stamp along with a date letter for the year 1916, it also has the makers mark "EC".

Condition: The chain is in fantastic antique condition. Both clasps are strong and springy and there is next to no wear between the links.
