Vintage (1963) 9ct Yellow Gold Day and Night Bracelet
Talk about a beautiful heavy hitter. It's a weighty beast at over 45g of 9ct gold, those links are solid through and through. And they have stunning detailing with every other link being engraved to one side.
This style of bracelet is typically called a "day and night" bracelet. Day and night bracelets were popular in the Victorian period due to their uniqueness and versatility. This one has all the signs of an antique and the only way we know that it isn't antique, but a vintage piece, is the date letter that tells us it was made in 1963. The gold hue is also a true yellow, not a warm rosey tone in the slightest that is typical to antique 9ct gold. The bracelet can either be worn with the textured links on show or turned over to the plain side, although the plain side of the links are all hallmarked so we think that is just as beautiful!
We have paired it with an antique 9ct yellow gold dog clasp to finish the piece off perfectly.
Condition: It is in fantastic vintage condition with light wear commensurate with age. There is no wear or thinning between the links. The dog clasp is strong and secure. There is a safety clasp attached that can be easily removed if desired.
Hallmarks: Every link stamped 9 375 for 9ct gold. One link has an anchor for Birmingham and a date letter for the year 1963. There is also a makers mark "PJ". The dog clasp is also stamped "JG&S 9ct".
Weight: 45.75g
Length: 8.5" (can be shortened by a jeweller). The bracelet will fit slightly smaller due to the girth of the links.
